The solution

Zesty is a restaurant operations platform I build with my team. It connects the full service flow: guests scan a QR to order, kitchen sees tickets on a display, staff manage billing and payments, and owners track stock and daily settlement from one workspace.

Technical approach

The product is a multi-tenant SaaS with separate surfaces for admin, kitchen, floor staff, and guests. Orders flow through a single pipeline: create → kitchen queue → ready → serve → bill → settle. Stock levels update as items are sold, and low-stock alerts surface before service breaks.

Key modules include table and menu management, KDS workflow, POS billing with cash/UPI/card, inventory with raw materials tracking, and analytics for owners reviewing sales, payment mix, and staff activity.

Outcome

Restaurants run dinner service, counter billing, and stock control without juggling disconnected tools. Zesty is live at zesty.id with tiered plans from single-outlet basics to enterprise multi-outlet operations.

Key decisions

  1. Unified workspace instead of separate POS, KDS, and inventory tools

  2. QR ordering as optional channel alongside staff-created orders

  3. Role-based staff permissions scoped per outlet

  4. Tiered pricing from single-outlet to enterprise multi-location

How a build like this runs

  1. 01

  2. 02

    Data and permissions

Orgs, roles, billing entities, and tenant boundaries before UI.

  3. 03

    Core product

Auth, main workflow, admin tools, and support visibility.

  4. 04

    Billing and operations

Plans, webhooks, email, background jobs, and monitoring.

  5. 05

    Go-live

Onboarding, rate limits, security pass, and production hardening.
